Electrical & Mechanical Technologist-full time, 6 month contract

ESG is looking for a full time Electrical and Mechanical Technologist who is responsible for the assembly and repair of electronic components and circuits for the next 6 months. Reporting to the Manager of Engineering the Technologist is required to interpret schematic drawings and create electronic prototypes. This position requires an individual who is an analytical thinker who has a high attention to detail.

About the job

You will:

  • Be responsible for assembly, analysis, characterization, and test of electronic components, mechanical assemblies, and systems.
  • Create electronic prototypes from schematics using wiring and soldering skills. 
  • Review documentation, procedures and drawings for the design, test, characterization, and assembly of electronic and mechanical systems.
  • Execute verification and validation test plans for electrical assemblies and mechanical assemblies.
  • Inspect and repair of electronic and mechanical components. Apply electronics debugging skills with the use of oscilloscopes, function generators, and multimeters.
  • Participate in the research and evaluation of third-party components.
  • Document and report results on the evaluation and test of components and systems.

About you

  • You have a College Diploma in Engineering Technology/Technician or similar field
  • For about 2-5 years you worked in similar capacity 
  • You enjoy hands-on electronic assembly and prototyping (soldering, wiring)
  • You are great at advanced soldering skills such as soldering SMT IC’s and proficient in high temperature soldering
  • You have experience working with electronic schematics, PCB layout, and mechanical assemblies
  • You demonstrate a hands-on approach to mechanical prototyping, assembly and test with the use of hand and power tools, hydraulic and pneumatic components
  • You are able to design and build mechanical test fixtures
  • Your knowledge of electronics components and schematics is pretty solid. 
  • You understand electronic equipment manufacturing processes really well. 
  • You find it comforting to capture things in engineering documentation processing including BOMs, assembly and test procedures.
  • You may have experience in the cataloging and inspection of test samples.
  • Potentially you worked with AutoCAD, SolidWorks or ORCAD.
