Electrical Engineer

Job Description

The successful applicant will join ESG’s Engineering department as an Electrical Engineer, reporting to a Product Line Manager. This is a broad role with a main focus on electronics design for microseismic monitoring equipment. Some domestic and international field travel may be required.


  • Designing analog signal conditioning circuits, analog to digital converters, and power converters.
  • Designing and building proof-of-concept prototypes.
  • Developing test programs and conducting characterization tests for microseismic equipment and instrumentation.
  • Developing firmware for Microcontrollers and FPGA.
  • Compiling and maintaining products documentation including PCB assembly packages, BOMs, assembly and test procedures, etc.
  • Supporting new and existing products: production support, provide technical expertise on products for internal and external clients.


  • Bachelor’s degree with 1-5 years of experience in electronics design and verification environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to debug analog and digital circuits.
  • Strong soldering and prototype assembly skills.
  • 2-4 year of experience with schematic capture and layout software.
  • Solid understanding of low noise analog electronics and analog to digital converters technology.
  • Experience with Verilog/VHDL, C/C++, and Assembly code.
  • Background in geophysics, data acquisition systems, sensor design is an asset.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong documentation skills.
  • Experience with production support.
