ESG is looking for a Technologist who is responsible for the assembly, test, diagnostics and repair of downhole wireline tools. Reporting to the Mechanical Engineering Product Line Manager, the Wireline Tool Assembly Technologist is detail-oriented, precise and accurate during assembly and testing.

About the job

You will:

• inspect, measure and test incoming mechanical and electrical/electronic components.

• prepare and work on armoured cables with multiple electrical conductors, while terminating the stranded wireline armour.

• solder high-temperature electrical connections.

• assemble mechanical components including pressure sealing technology.

• assemble and test electronic components.

• seal electrical terminations with a silicone mold.

• perform Factor Acceptance Tests.

• operate temperature chambers and pressure vessels for assembly and testing.

• sort and track material inventory.

• perform other duties as necessary to support Engineering and Manufacturing objectives.

About you

You have a college technologist diploma in a mechanical and/or electrical discipline and you are proud to show off your academic accomplishments.

• For the last few years you have mastered the skills of mechanical and/or electrical assembly in a manufacturing environment.

• Safety is the most important thing to you and you are experienced with health, safety and environmental practices.

• Reading, interpreting and following schematics, diagrams and procedures is as easy as riding a bike (assuming you can ride a bike).

• You can wield a soldering iron for circuit assembly like it’s a third arm, and you laugh at the challenge of high-temperature soldering.

• “Vernier calipers”, “micrometers”, “bore gauges”, “height gauges”… You know what I’m talking ‘bout!

• Dreaming about the thrill of static hydraulic seal inspection and assembly is how you fall asleep at night.

• When I say “Statistical Process Control”, you say “Oh yeah!”.

• You get excited to run power tools because you do it often and you do it safely.

• You find it comforting to capture your ideas in written reports.

• You are ready to call Kingston, Ontario your home and you are legally allowed to work in Canada.
