Australia-Seismic Support Specialist

Job Description

The successful applicant will join ESG Solutions’ Mining and Geotechnical Services Department. Primary duties of the Field Technician will include: 

  • Managing projects and client expectations regarding support, processing, and analysis services for clients in Australasia, and Indonesia
  • Providing technical support from Australia for clients worldwide
  • Maintaining system functionally remotely and on client sites
  • Coordinating service/communication efforts between ESG internal groups and the client
  • Performing data processing and analysis as required
  • Ensuring client satisfaction and retention, through providing timely response and service
  • Travelling considerably domestically and internationally to remote locations to install and maintain ESG’s microseismic monitoring systems
  • Integrating with ESG technical support (remotely or onsite) to maintain system health, and resolve technical issues
  • Assisting processing and consulting teams to ensure client services are delivered timely
  • Coordinating services and communications between clients and ESG
  • Presenting technical material to clients, promoting ESG offerings to  existing and prospective customers
  • Providing on-call support in non-standard hours  
  • Producing written field and analysis reports
  • Assisting with technical sales visits and presentations.

Qualifications and Experience

  • To be familiar with data acquisition systems (microseismic monitoring systems would be a distinct advantage),
  • Willing to travel to mine sites internationally
  • Willing to work non-standard hours
  • Skills to give technical presentations
  • Tertiary (including trade) qualification in electronics and/ or physics, and / or seismology (emphasis on instrumentation)
  • Must be legally eligible to live and work in Australia prior to application
  • Several years’ experience in the field of induced microseismicity (emphasis on data acquisition) would be advantageous
  • Experience in the mining industry is an advantage
  • Strong computer hardware and software skills. This includes the ability to efficiently learn new computer software packages
  • Past experience processing/interpreting geophysical data and working with other types of data recorded by field instruments is an asset
  • Knowledge of operating, designing and configuring microseismic systems for monitoring and data acquisition is an asset
  • Fluency in verbal and written English (additional fluency or functional fluency in Bahasa Indonesian would be a distinct advantage)
  • Frequent travel to mine sites internationally on any day of the week
  • Underground or surface mine sites, possible extreme temperatures, high altitudes, rough roads
  • Large degree of independence - work from home when not traveling
  • Must be able to relate with respect to a wide range of cultures
