INDONESIA-Onsite Seismic System Technician

The On-site seismic system technician will be working out of Indonesia and will be responsible for working at the mine site and supporting all aspects of the seismic system to ensure it is running smoothly and recording high-quality data 24/7/365. This position will work between 10 to12 hours a day, six days a week on-site as part of a 4 to 6-week rotation on shift at the mine site.  The ideal candidate will have an aptitude for instrumentation and software along with a diligent and proactive work ethic. 

Duties:

  • Provide computer-based technical support during dayshift.

  • Do physical troubleshooting of equipment.

  • Do preventive maintenance (this involves visiting all equipment on a scheduled basis to check that everything is in order and fixing any issues, e.g., checking connections, cleaning, ensuring environmental integrity, etc.)

  • Install new equipment / replace failed equipment.

  • Install and maintain software.

  • Receive, document, and store new equipment.

  • Maintain inventory records of all available instrumentation.

  • Audit (test and document) equipment on hand on a monthly basis.

  • Liaise with MIS (IT) on-site to ensure supportive infrastructure is optimal. 

  • Report on a monthly basis using pre-existing templates. 

  • Provide first level technical support to clients on-site if needed.

  • Assure adherence to all safety regulations for on-site and as per ESG’s HSE policies.

  • Work shifts (10 to 12 hrs) on a fixed (4 to 6 week on site) rotation. 

Requirements:

  • Technician/technologist diploma or equivalent in telecom/instrumentation and/or computer hardware/software engineering. 

  • High school or equivalent is minimum.  

  • Hands on experience in instrumentation/computer/software engineering may be accepted in lieu of diploma. 

  • Sufficient English speaking, reading, writing skills to enable professional communication.  

  • Three years’ experience as an instrumentation or telecom technologist or building/maintaining electrical or computer instrumentation. 

  • Knowledge of and experience working with different software and firmware programs is an asset

  • Any experience field work or on-site experience (particularly with respects to mining or geophysical activities) is an asset. 

  • Hardware and Software troubleshooting skills—electronic instrumentation proficiencies with knowledge of fiber meters, computer hardware and blueprint reading.
