Senior Electrical Engineer

About us

ESG Solutions has spent over 25 years dominating the microseismic monitoring market in oil and gas, mining and geotechnical industries. We design, manufacture, install and support cutting-edge electronics, sensors and turn-key solutions that are sought after worldwide.

ESG is looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer who is responsible for the conceptualization, design, prototyping, testing, implementation and installation of cutting edge microseismic monitoring electronic solutions.  Reporting to the Manager of Engineering, the Senior Electrical Engineer will take on any design and implementation challenge.

About the job

You will:

• Design low-noise and high-resolution analog and mixed-signal circuitry including A/D, D/A, amplifiers, filters and power circuits.

• Design digital electronics including solutions for microprocessor systems, communications, GPS, and FPGAs/CPLDs.

• Design circuitry for fibre-optic communication.

• Design analog, digital and fibre-optic circuits and systems for high-temperature applications (150 °C– 200°C).

• Use OrCAD to complete schematic capture and PCB layout.

• Implement firmware for microcontrollers and FPGAs/CPLDs.

• Assemble, characterize, qualify and validate prototype designs.

• Prepare product documentation, spec sheets, reports, and assembly/test procedures.

• Implement automation solutions for manufacturing and production testing.

• Support root-cause analysis for product failures.

• On occasion, install and/or monitor product field trials.

• Perform other duties as necessary to support Engineering and Manufacturing objectives.

About you

• You have a Baccalaureate degree in electrical/electronics engineering and you are proud to show off your academic accomplishments.

• For about the last decade you have mastered the skills of analog, digital and fibre-optic electronics. Maybe you can even layout an OrCAD design blindfolded?

• Firmware development is your second passion.

• Safety is the most important thing to you, and you are experienced with health, safety and environmental practices.

• You may have worked previously on sensor development and signal acquisition in support of geophysical applications.

• You can wield a soldering iron for circuit assembly like it’s a third arm, and you laugh at the challenge of high-temperature soldering.

• Notwithstanding COVID-19, you are excited to put on some steel-toed boots and travel to the field to try out your latest invention.

• You find it comforting to capture your ideas in written procedures and reports.

• You think LEAN, embrace 5S, and regularly battle “TIM WOODS”.

• Your signature line is likely completed with the title “P.Eng.”.

• You are ready to call Kingston, Ontario your home and you are legally allowed to work in Canada.

Please apply via our ESG Career Centre with resume and cover letter.  ESG thanks all interested applicants, however only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
