Infrastructure/Back-End Developer

ESG is looking for an Infrastructure Developer who is responsible for maintaining, deploying, and evolving the applications that support our 24x7 operations.  As part of our software team, the successful candidate will work with new and established technologies as part of an Agile group of developers under the supervision of a software architect.

Job Description

Primary duties will include:

•Leveraging cloud technologies to build and sustain highly scalable, reliable systems

•Working with a team to enhance and sustain a large codebase of existing production software

•Collaborating with domain experts to iteratively develop, deploy, and monitor usage of new functionality in an Agile environment

•System configuration management and deployment

•Monitor systems and support operations where needed to deliver 24/7 uptime

Qualifications and Experience

•University degree or College diploma in Engineering, Computing, Physics, Geophysics, or Applied Math.

•Practical experience maintaining servers and application deployments.

•Experience configuring, deploying, and managing cloud based software systems in AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.  Linux administration experience is an asset.

•Experience with object oriented programming in large systems (100,000+ LOC).  Java and C++ is an asset.

•Experience maintaining web services; experience with RESTful systems is an asset.

•A strong mathematical background and aptitude for developing scientific or quantitative code is an asset.

•Ability to contribute in a team environment.

•Strong problem solving skills, self-motivated; able to work autonomously.

•Legally eligible to work in Canada.
