Prior to installing any microseismic array, ESG recommends performing a feasibility study and array design to ensure that sensor placement is optimal for the desired monitoring zone.
A feasibility study evaluates sensor types and array configuration to optimize performance of the microseismic system. The goal of each monitoring system is to ensure maximum monitoring coverage and data quality, based on the specific geological characteristics of a site.
The primary outputs from a feasibility study include minimum detection limits (minimum magnitude) and the expected quality of seismic source locations based on the location, type and quantity of sensors deployed. From here, ESG can recommend an optimal array configuration for installation.
ESG has installed over 450 permanent and temporary microseismic monitoring systems around the world, spanning a variety of extreme geographical environments. Our experienced field teams can perform installations and a dedicated project manager will serve as a primary contact for clients.
ESG’s field installation team is composed of professional engineers and experienced technicians who can provide full service installation or act as technical consultants. Our field team routinely travels the world to be on-site during system installations, all of which are carefully planned with our customers before arriving on site. ESG’s field team can work with site electricians, geotechnical staff and IT resources to install the equipment and associated infrastructure.
Comprehensive training is also provided to site staff during the installation and commissioning phase of every project. Training may take place at client sites or at one of ESG’s global offices.
